As the world continues to grapple with how to move forward from the coronavirus pandemic. Sporting activities has also come to a halt. With this regard CAF medical committee member Prince Pambo has added his voice to the issue suggesting that the 2019/20 Ghana Premier league should be cancelled.
The sports physician has made a passionate call to the Ghana Football Association to forget about continuing the league instead develope what he calls a plan B that will channel all resources to start a new season. He however made pertinent reasons regarding that, amongst them are should the league resume every player must be screened and vaccinated, The psychological impact and the financial implications that the club’s are going to face. Infurtherance teams should be given at least two weeks to prepare. So it is only reasonable to declare it null and void.
Mr Pambo also made reference to FiFa’ s position on the situation where president Giani Infantino said there should be absolute 100% free Covid-19. No football federation should risk returning, it will be irresponsible to do that. Our health is very important even if it takes a long time.
He also adviced club owners and stakeholders to put all resources into another season, no need to rush.
