The people of nyamedom community of the Abura Asebu Kwamankesse District in the Central Region have embarked on what is called protesting against using their school as a treatment centre for the novel Covid-19 pandemic.
According to reports authorities have initially selected Aggrey memorial secondary school as their preferred setting but was kicked against by residents. They said the disease is causing a lot of unbelievable problems in the country and they don’t want to put their life at risk.
Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan after elucidating the issue has disclosed schools like Abakrampa Senior High School and Asuansi Technical School could be used as an isolation centres for affected person’s after recording it first case in tge region and also conducting a contract tracing for about 13 person’s.
But indigens took to their heels and blocked all roads leading to the community with tree branches, car tyres and stones. As fearsome as the deadly Covid-19 disease these people were ready to put their life at risk keeping wake to make sure nobody make an entry.
Currently Ghana has 566 cases with greater Accra becoming the epi centre with over 400 cases. The country is at the moment observing partial lockdown in two region’s Greater Accra and Greater kumasi.
