Abedi Pele Eulogies Papa Diouf

Three times African player of the year Abedi Pele pays a heartfelt tribute to former Olympic Marseille president Papa Diouf.

Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele was one of the great players in the history of the Marseille team and was very instrumental in the club’s champions league triumph against A.c. Milan in 1993. He also managed three league tittles. Abedi recounted Papa Diouf was like a father to him and played a key role in his career.

Papa Diouf was a former president for lig one side Olympic Marseille who died from the novel outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic. The Senegalese was a former journalist who writes for one of the biggest news papers in Marseille.

Pele said after their champions final in 1993 against A.C Milan Papa approached him and said you are the “black maradona ” because I won the best player award of that game. The father of Jordan and Andre Ayew admitted it a difficult time for him. However Diouf was like everything to him. He had such a great personality and loved by many. Africa will always miss him.
